Better science means we all win.

Our communities are diverse. Research is not.

We're researching psychedelic-facilitated group treatments for substance use disorders in underserved populations to expand evidence-based treatments in addiction medicine for all of us.
THE PROBLEM

Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy is not designed for the global majority

Results from clinical studies cannot be assumed to be applicable across diverse populations. The reason being that a significant majority of the demographics who have participated in psychedelic drug research are not representative of real world patient populations. This exclusion of underrepresented minorities from clinical data distorts our understanding of efficacy and it perpetuates health disparities
Self-identified racial orgin of participants of the 18 studies that met full criteria: (n = 282 participants), 82.3% of the participants were non-Hispanic White, 2.5% were African-American, 2.1% were of Latino origin, 1.8% were of Asian origin, 4.6% w ere of indigenous origin, 4.6% were of mixed race, 1.8% identified their race as “other,” and the ethnicity of 8.2% of participants was unknown

The current standard treatment won’t translate to the clinic because it's not designed to be cost effective or accessible

Majority of research is done with two providers for each trial participant. The primary cost of the treatment is the provider’s time, making this model expensive for health systems and individuals once approved by health authorities.

We're here to change that.

CLINICAL RESEARCH THAT BENEFITS EVERYONE

our solution

Recruit diverse groups in clinical research

Our stakeholders will be a part of every stage of the process in our study development. This will ensure trust is established between communities, medicine, academia, and industry. Moreover, women and underrepresented groups will be well represented in our study teams. We believe by reflecting the participant demographics amongst our researchers, it will translate to positive outcomes and eventually, broaden access to approved treatments

Employ innovative trial designs

Our research protocols will use group psychotherapy, utilizing fewer providers and including more participants. This is akin to traditional religious use of psychedelic medicine among indigenous populations, dating back centuries. In addition, we will incorporate innovative statistical approaches and data collection in our studies, allowing us to better predict treatment outcomes.
